My wife emailed it to me.  A Hint?

An exerpt from  an article on Mid-Atlantic region factory output:

The Philadelphia Federal Reserve Bank said its business activity index slumped unexpectedly hard to -37.5 in October from 3.8 in September. That was its lowest since October 1990.

“The data, put simply, were horrendous coming out of the Philadelphia Fed region today,” said Dana Saporta, economist at Dresdner Kleinwort in New York.

“This reading is consistent with the recession we are in and probably have probably been in for a while.”

There you have it!

..and yes, I am still drinking coffee made from beans bought at Savemart.

Lazarus Realty

The other day we had a couple of visitors in our front yard: two ducks, male and female.  One of my sons went out and gave them some bread. My wife said dont do that we wont be able to get rid of them and they’ll poop all over.

I thought they looked pretty cute waddling around on our front lawn so I went inside and grabbed my camera and got this shot of them.

Fast Forward to the next day and who happens to return, this time not in our front yard but our backyard, our two new friends.  So I grabbed my camera and went out to take some more pictures and they waddle away from me and plop into the pool.

My wife was right about the poop;  they are pretty messy – but you gotta admit they are heck-a-cute!  Well,  I did manage to shoo them away but they  came  back again later in the day.  Then they were back again first thing this morning.  I just went outside with a flashlight a little while ago and checked and sure enough they were both out there floating in the middle of the pool. Not sure what we’re gonna do ??????

Ok – for those who dont know me – this is tongue-in-cheek. Buy hey, I WILL do it if you want. I’ll bury a statue of St. Joseph if you think it will help!

The Oracle of Omaha had a significant advantage over me in that he made his announcement after reviewing the recent performance of the many businesses in his holding company Berkshire Hathaway.

I, on the other hand, didn’t have the advantage of perusing the market performance of billions of dollars of assets and scrutinizing their money flow. No, my indicators were much more primitive: my revelation came from my inner compass and the use of a calculator. When I realized that I:

1.) turned right instead of left (went to Savemart instead of Starbucks) to buy cheaper coffee beans

and

2.) went so far as to use my calculator to compare prices – I KNEW THE RECESSION HAD BEGUN.

Naturally, I find immense satisfaction that a brilliant mind like Warren Buffet’s would eventually confirm my announcement. And, while brilliant minds may think alike, my guess is that Warren Buffet will weather the recession a wee bit better than Lazarus.

But what about a goose fights?

I was walking through the park the other day when this goose stopped me and asked me if I would like to watch a goose fight. I said to him “are you serious”? and he replied “sure, we do this all the time.”

Well, I wasnt about to pass up an opportunity to take a gander at a good goose fight so I ask this goose “where’s is this fight”, and he says “follow me.”

Well, then I had second thoughts, so I paused to think about whether following Mr. Goose was a good idea or not when suddenly he honks really loud and beckons me saying “YOU COMING OR NOT“?

So, I took a quick look around to make sure no one was watching us – then proceeded to follow Mr. Goose. We traveled down the bank along the side of the lake for while until we came to what I guess you could call ringside. Then this other goon uh goose comes up to me and looks me over really good and Mr. Goose explains to him that I’m his guest for the fight and goony goose backs off and lets me pass.

So here you go – you get to see in gory detail exactly what I saw and I’m sure you’ll agree that there ought to be a law against goose fighting as well.

I GUESS WE KNOW WHO WON

Just so you know. I had no favorites and I didn’t place any bets.
