I am at the age and stage where I am pondering down-sizing and have been fascinated by all the possibilities available in Alternative Living.

Over the years our families have grown SMALLER whilst our homes have been built BIGGER.  I believe we are more comfortable, albeit less connected.

Was living in a tepee with a warm fire in the center around which the family gathered for meals and fellowship less civilized than living in a McMansion where everyone has their own separate space, complete with television and computer?  When you think tepee living – think, NO TAXES.

Are urbanized Americans you know happier than these desert nomads: 6 children 7 adults living in a tent with no electricity or water?

Just some food for thought.  I think we in America HAVE to look at our spiritual and material values and do some serious remodeling.
